BRIGHTEYE BRISON - BRIGHTEYE BRISON

BRIGHTEYE BRISON “BRIGHTEYE BRISON” (Rivel Records)
This band with the strange name comes from Sweden and is a brand new one in the prog circles. Their keyboard
player Linus Kase is also known from Narnia, but the style of this band here is quite different from the
aforementioned one's. Up tempo prog rock, with long compositions, and influences from Kansas and Spock's Beard to
the maximum. But this is not all:
I think that the band is directly influenced by Beatles' music of the second
period, producing thus a nostalgic, kind of old fashioned (in the good sense) sound, which works well for the
band. Some excellent guitar work is accompanied by smart breaks in the rhythm section and the whole effort
becomes even richer when the saxophone appears to add variety to the music. Listen to the opening track
"Aspects From Newborn Eyes" and you will understand that something good is going on here. My only objection
concerns the vocal lines, which at times need a bit more working out to present a more balanced sound. But this
is just my view and somebody else might like them as they stand. In general, if you have already checked out
Kaipa and Mythologic this month, "bite" this one too.
